Hello! My name is Shannon Wilson. I am not your typical student at ASU. I am 38 years old, I have 4 kids, and I have been married for 18 years. I have 3 girls and 1 boy. Gabrielle is 16, Tymber is 11, Carter is 9, and Bayleigh is 7. They go to Hardin Park School except for Gabrielle who is a sophomore at WHS. I love to watch my children play sports like football and basketball.
My family and I moved to Boone 3 years ago from Kansas. We had never been here and we took quite a leap of faith moving this far away from our families. We love living in the mountains and especially love the cool summers and the beautiful snow.
I am a middle grades major with concentrations in Social Studies and English Language Arts. These subjects are important because I think that learning from the past and about the past can help shape the future. The ability to read and write effectively and how to find your own voice in the process is a skill that cannot be taken away.
I started my college career way back in 1989. Through life’s twists and turns I never found the time to finish. I am excited that I am finally a senior (not a senior citizen) and will be graduating in 2010. I hope to be an example of perseverance and hard work for my children. I want them to know that it is never too late to chase your dreams!
